The next is of Sharief being presented with a certificate, and then a third shows him wearing his red Shell uniform on the rig again. The first is of Sharief’s graduation, where he poses for his photograph with his family wearing a black gown and hat. My passion stems from coming to the realisation that energy and environment are two of the biggest things that we have to get right if we plan to move forward in a sustainable manner. Then we’re taken back to the head and shoulders shot of Sharief’s interview. In the background is the London Eye, several large tower blocks and a red double-decker bus. Since my toddler loves the water, she was ecstatic to be just steps from paddle boating, canoeing, fish and duck feeding, a small beach, as well as bike rentals. It offers traditional hotel rooms in Lakeside Village. We wanted to make our weekend a family affair and bring our furry kid too, so we stayed in a dog-friendly room at the Keystone Lodge and Spa. Some buildings also have outdoor pools and hot tubs. You’ll be steps to the festivals, fire pit, and gondola. Condos here have multiple-room layouts plus fully-equipped kitchens. To be in the center of it all, I’d recommend staying in River Run Village. Keystone is made up of several areas, all connected by a free, resort shuttle. Tri-color action: This logo has the bold elements it needs to stand out on a basketball court, including three high-contrast colors that work beautifully together. If you have a shorter company name, experimenting with shapes like circles and rectangles can add lots of personality to your logo design.Īnimal mascot: Looking for a mascot to help brand your new business? Choose an animal symbol that you can use in other parts of your marketing - like this owl, which is the perfect choice for a tutoring company. It’s friendly without being too playful, and the wordmark looks good on its own or beside the symbol.īright spot: This logo is inviting for a number of reasons: the vibrant orange color, the slightly imperfect circle, and the quirky font. Handwritten charm: Remember learning cursive? With handwritten text, an earthy color palette, and an apple symbol, this logo evokes the nostalgia and practicality of school. The paint-stroke quality of this “paint stroke” text feels gritty - which is exactly what you’d want a true crime podcast to feel like. The circle around the flower symbol adds another layer of dimension to the design, as does the mix of serif and sans-serif fonts in the company name and slogan. Shades of purple: This logo’s dusty purple color palette conveys a high-end, boutique vibe. Keeping the design to two colors ensures this logo is easy to use on different backgrounds and on top of images and videos. Personal meets professional: This minimalist logo communicates so much with a simple symbol, a clean font, and a one-word slogan. This logo also uses the same font in the company name and the slogan, to help unify the design. Symbol divider, part II: Here’s an example of how a symbol-as-divider layout can work with a slogan and a more complex “hand drawn” symbol. Symbol as divider: If your company name has two words (preferably around the same length), why not try a symbol as a divider? This logo takes a bold color, a slightly quirky font, and a simple symbol, and puts them together for a memorable band logo. The dropped “J” makes it memorable, and the perfectly aligned slogan (spanning the A to S in “JAMES”) makes it a compact and scalable design. Related: How to add or edit a logo slogan in My Free Logo Makerĭrop letter: This black-and-white logo with a classic sans-serif font is easy on the eyes. The hot pink used in this logo example, paired with a blocky font and a short, right-aligned slogan, makes for a super punchy design. Wordmark-in-a-box: If you have a short company name (under 10 characters), you can try putting it in a box to add some visual oomph. Literal symbol: Sometimes symbols can be abstract (as seen in the Apollo logo) and sometimes they can be more literal - in this case, a flash of lightning coming out of a brain to match the name “Brainworx.” Both are good choices - it really depends what you’re looking for, and how literal you want to go! Pop of gradient: The abstract symbol in this logo is punched up with a subtle orange gradient that doesn’t scream “trendy.” The rest of the design is simple - black sans-serif font, neutral background color - to keep things balanced and professional. Note how the length of the slogan spans the exact width of the “ak” for balance and symmetry. The handwritten font makes it feel personal, while the contrast between a lowercase monogram and uppercase slogan adds visual interest. Just like the endlessly fussed-over magazine of the title, this endlessly fussed-over movie showcases a deliberately comic disproportion between effort expended and results achieved. To use a literary term from the culture that the movie venerates, The French Dispatch is an example of mise en abyme, a self-reflexive work of art that contains its own reproduction in miniature. To the extent these three stories and the interstitial material that frames them share a thematic throughline, it has to do with the characters’ shared love for the power of the written word and the joy of collaborative creation. Get ready for fleeting cameos from Saoirse Ronan, Elisabeth Moss, Henry Winkler, and Christoph Waltz, as well as full-sized performances from many actors Anderson has never worked with before: Timothée Chalamet, Benicio del Toro, Liev Schreiber, Jeffrey Wright. Then again, essentially every broom-wielding extra in The French Dispatch is a movie star. Nearly every actor from the de facto stock company Anderson has been building over the years makes an appearance: Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Ed Norton, Jason Schwartzman, Adrien Brody, Bob Balaban, Frances McDormand, Mathieu Amalric, Willem Dafoe. It contains all the director’s tics-the symmetrical compositions, the intricate cross-sectioned sets, the deadpan line delivery-boiled down to their bone-broth essence. If Wes Anderson films are licorice, The French Dispatch is one of those Scandinavian salted varieties that appeals to hardcore fans alone. Send me updates about Slate special offers. But there’s no disputing that Anderson is an artist, and an inimitable one with a unique place in the current filmmaking landscape. Just what his movies are trying to say, what they want the viewer to think and feel and remember, can be hard to discern under the matte perfection of their richly colored surfaces. I’ve written before, more than once, about how Anderson seems like an artist in dire need of enlarging his thematic scope and experimenting with his visual style. But even the films of his that I’ve outright disliked ( The Life Aquatic, The Darjeeling Limited) are packed with marvels of production and costume design, cleverly conceived sight gags, and extra-dry dialogue delivered in the trademark rat-a-tat style he prefers. Fox) I’ve loved so long I all but know them by heart. I would never miss a Wes Anderson release, and even though some of his most widely loved films ( The Royal Tenenbaums, Moonrise Kingdom) have left me cold, there are others ( Rushmore, Fantastic Mr. That may sound like the starting point for a critique or a dismissal, but the fact is, I’m a sometimes-reluctant collector. Wes Anderson pictures, even the less beguiling ones, are collectible items, meticulously crafted toys meant to be lined up and rearranged like the stop-motion miniatures he loves to put into his movies (sometimes even the live-action ones). Either way, “curio” is le mot juste, not just for this movie but for all 10 the fastidious Texan-turned-Parisian has made to date. The Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney calls Anderson’s new movie, The French Dispatch, a “ beguiling curio.” Whether that image makes you want to pick up the nearest tchotchke and hurl it against the wall or open a browser window to buy a ticket is a good test of whether this movie is for you. No director now working makes films that more closely resemble that divisive root-based candy than Wes Anderson, with the result that a discussion of any one of his movies tends to turn into a referendum on his whole cinematic output. If you’re using a thicker pork chop, you will have to add additional time on to your cook time. If you’re using a thinner pork chop, you’ll need to cut down on the pressure cooking time, so if the chops are ½-inch thick, I would cut the cook time in half. I use pork chops that are at least ¾ -inch thick to 1 inch thick for this recipe. Remember that the thicker your pork chops are, the less prone to overcooking they will be! Like I mentioned above, the thickness of the pork chops you pick up will also make a big difference in the cook time of the meat and the likelihood that the pork chops will be undercooked or overcooked. Yes, the bone in the bone-in pork chops helps add to the flavor of this recipe but boneless chops will still have PLENTY of flavor! Notice here that we had to assign the string to a variable (even if it we had reassigned it to itself). For example, using a string such as text'datagy', we can reverse it using backward text ::-1. This makes the step go backwards, including each element it steps on, resulting in the string being printed back in reverse: string = 'I’ll never turn to the dark side. The best way to reverse a string in Python is to use string indexing, with a step of -1. To reverse a string, we can set the step of the slice notation to -1. String = 'Now, young Skywalker, you will die.' # Prefix of length n The simplest way of extracting single characters from strings (and individual members from any sequence) is to unpack them into corresponding variables. In this particular example, the slice statement ::-1 means start at the end of the string and end at position 0, move with the step -1, negative one, which means one step backwards. In this case, -n will start counting from the end of the string, backwards, giving us a suffix: n = 4 txt 'Hello World' ::-1 print(txt) Create a slice that starts at the end of the string, and moves backwards. We'll slice from the start to n and from -n to the end of the string. To find the prefix or suffix of length n of a string, we'll use the same approach that can be used to find a tail or head of a list. To reverse a string, we simply create a slice that starts with the length of the string, and ends at index 0. This makes the step go backwards, including each element it steps on, resulting in the string being printed back in reverse: string I’ll never turn to the dark side. The negative step increment of -1 means that the slicing starts at the last element and ends at the first element, resulting in a reversed string. This will omit the first four characters in the string: I am your fatherįinding the Prefix and Suffix of Length n with Slice Notation To reverse a string, we can set the step of the slice notation to -1.
